Rebels aren’t fearless. In fact, because of their actions against the conventions and authority, they meet with hindrances and oppositions that bring overwhelming fears.
Throughout Galileo’s rebellious life, he made one discovery after another to challenge the church’s belief that the earth was the center of the universe. Since 1610, from his observations of Venus phases, Galilean moons of Jupiter to the theory of tides and comets, Galileo promoted the heliocentric theory that the earth is not the center of the universe and it moves around the sun. Those discoveries were met with opposition within the Catholic Church, and in the church inquisition of 1633, Galileo was found “vehemently suspect of heresy” and sentenced to indefinite imprisonment. Galileo was kept under house arrest until his death in 1642.
Galileo feared. But every piece of fear drove him closer to the truth of the universe. When we conform to the rules and live within the comfort zone, no fears will be experienced. We’re experiencing fears, exactly because we dare to break the rules and bring out our unique voice out and loud. With heliocentric theory, Galileo changed the center from the earth to the sun; with fears, one man could shake the center of the universe.
The earrings are inspired by Galileo’s heliocentric theory, with the movable silver planet along the spiral orbit. It’s a metaphoric statement of fears that drive change and breakthrough.
